Overview

Direct Message ("the App") is developed by Abhishek Aich. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Data Storage and User Content

The App is designed with privacy in mind. All user-generated content including:

  • Messages and drafts
  • Message templates (including placeholder templates)
  • Reminders and scheduled messages
  • Contact references
  • Bulk messaging logs
  • Local analytics and activity data

is stored locally on your device only.

The App does not upload, transmit, or store your personal messages, templates, or reminder content on any external server controlled by us.

If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is permanently deleted. We do not maintain cloud backups of your personal content.

You can also delete all app data at any time from within the App via Settings → Clear All Data.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do NOT:

  • Access your messages or conversations
  • Store phone numbers on external servers
  • Read or transmit your message content
  • Sell personal data to third parties

Your communication content remains on your device at all times.

3. Analytics and Crash Reporting

To improve stability and user experience, the App uses third-party services that may collect limited, anonymous technical information:

  • Device model and OS version
  • App version
  • Crash reports and error logs
  • Feature usage statistics (e.g., which features are used, how often)
  • Approximate location (country-level only)

This data does not include your message content, contact details, or phone numbers.

4. Advertising

The App may display advertisements via Facebook Audience Network. The ad provider may collect anonymous identifiers (such as Advertising ID) to serve relevant ads.

You can opt out of personalized ads through your device settings:
Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID

5. Subscriptions and Payments

The App offers optional Pro subscriptions. All subscription management and payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play Billing.

We do not process, store, or access your payment details. Payment information is managed securely by Google. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

6. Contact Information Access

The App requests the READ_CONTACTS permission to allow you to look up contact names when composing messages or setting up reminders. Contact data is used only locally within the App and is never uploaded or shared.

7. Log Data

In the event of an error, the App collects diagnostic data via Firebase Crashlytics. This may include your device name, OS version, app version, time of use, and error details. This data does not include personal message content.

8. Children's Privacy

This App is not directed toward children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect data processed by the App and its integrated services. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. External Links

The App may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

11. Data Deletion & User Requests

How to Delete Your Data

  1. Open the app
  2. Go to Settings (tap the gear icon at the bottom)
  3. Scroll to "Clear All Data" button
  4. Tap the button and confirm the deletion dialog
  5. All your personal data is deleted immediately

What Data is Deleted

  • ✓ All reminders and reminder history
  • ✓ All message templates
  • ✓ Contact preferences
  • ✓ Country code selection
  • ✓ Local app analytics

What is NOT Deleted

  • ✗ Google Play subscription data (managed by Google)
  • ✗ Device logs (system-level)

Data Retention

All data is deleted immediately when you use "Clear All Data". No backups are kept.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
